Lakeline apartments, located in Leander, Texas, is a 264-unit affordable housing community comprised of a series of 11 buildings spanning nearly 30 acres. Equality Community Housing Corporation (Equality) completed its acquisition of the property earlier this summer and has selected Rainbow Housing Assistance Corporation (Rainbow) as its provider of its service-enriched housing model.
Rainbow has been brought on board as the full-time Resident Services Provider for the Lakeline community. Rainbow welcomes Silvia Coe who has been serving the youth population there for several years during both the summer and school seasons.
Summer activities include Spanish language classes as well as programs on exercise and healthy eating. With the first day of school on August 22, Silvia is preparing to work with the children by providing afterschool homework instruction. With the help of a volunteer, she will be monitoring exam scores and subject grades to ensure above average performance in school. This work is particularly important as the property is very attractive to young families, being within one-half mile of two elementary schools, a middle school, and a high school.
Lakeline also has several amenities onsite that help residents maintain a healthy body in the comfort of their own community setting. To help get the residents moving, the community provides a pool, playground, basketball court, and fitness center.
Later this month, Rainbow will open a Learning Center at the community providing students with all the necessary space and equipment for a successful FREE afterschool program. The space will also be used for games and arts and crafts activities.
