Rainbow’s Paggi Resource Center Receives HUD Designation as EnVision Center

For immediate release:

Rainbow, a nonprofit organization which provides service-enriched housing programs for 115 affordable housing communities in 13 states across the nation, is proud to announce a new partnership with the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). In July, one of Rainbow’s served communities in Houston, which houses the Paggi Resource Center, was officially designated an EnVision Center under the Demonstration Program.

“It is an honor to receive this designation and expand our relationship with HUD. Rainbow’s mission perfectly aligns with the EnVision Center’s goal to promote self-sufficiency,” said Flynann Janisse, Executive Director of Rainbow.

EnVision Centers support the delivery of programs to low-income families by concentrating services in a single location. Each site is designed to promote self-sufficiency through four pillars: 1) Economic Empowerment, 2) Educational Advancement, 3) Health and Wellness, and 4) Character and Leadership. The Centers also enjoy coordination with several other federal partners including USDA, Department of Commerce, Department of Labor, and AmeriCorps.

The Paggi Resource Center has focused on programs targeting economic self-sufficiency for the tenants of Haverstock Hills Apartments as financial stability and economic mobility are critical to their success and longevity within a community. It is currently certified by HUD as a Neighborhood Networks Center, and is located in a designated Opportunity Zone as well as a Qualified Census Tract. Combined with its EnVision Center designation, Rainbow is well-positioned to carry all of this momentum forward to serve Texans in Harris County.

“HUD EnVision Centers are impacting communities across the nation.  I’m very pleased to welcome the Paggi Center of Houston to the effort.  Their EnVision Center programs will prepare participants for the work place, provide life skills training, and help to access educational opportunities, leading ultimately to self-sufficiency.  Congratulations to the Paggi Center and Rainbow for this important designation.” said HUD Region VI, Regional Administrator Michael Burley.
