Rainbow Selected as Service Provider for New Affordable Senior Living Community in Silver City, New Mexico

Phoenix-based nonprofit will provide supportive services to residents of the new development

Silver City, N.M. – Sept. 28, 2017 – Rainbow Housing Assistance Corporation (Rainbow), a Phoenix-based nonprofit organization that provides service-enriched housing programs for residents of rental housing communities throughout the country, has been chosen by Bethel Development, Inc. as the primary service provider for Mountain View Senior Apartments, a new, 69-unit senior living complex under development at N. Juniper Ave. & East 16th Street in Silver City, New Mexico.

Mountain View Senior Apartments will be an approximately 70,000-square-foot, four-story structure that comprises both one- and two-bedroom units. The complex will include amenities for the residents such as a hair care salon, fitness room, computer room, library, laundry room and community room. The project is scheduled for completion in 2019.

To bring the development to fruition, Bethel Development, Inc. along with Southwestern Regional Housing and Community Development Corporation were awarded low income housing tax credits (LIHTC) allocated by the New Mexico Mortgage Finance Authority.

“Rainbow is excited to be working in conjunction with Bethel Development Inc. to accomplish the common goal of further benefiting the lives of seniors in southwestern New Mexico,” said Flynann Janisse, executive director of Rainbow. “By providing ongoing supportive services and affordable housing opportunities, Rainbow will assist residents in achieving a greater level of self-sufficiency and improve the overall quality of their everyday lives.”

Mountain View Senior Apartments is a new development that will serve those 62 years of age and older. As such, Rainbow will provide a variety of services at no cost to the residents, including computer training, health and nutrition education, financial literacy workshops, estate and end of life planning workshops, health screenings, in addition to social events and activities to help promote cognitive wellness and socialization. Rainbow also plans to provide Web-Based Resident Applied Programming (WRAP), which will include live and interactive webinars focused on computer training, health and nutrition education, financial literacy and estate planning.

“Our partnership with Rainbow allows us to not only tap into a wealth of experience in resident services, but it also brings forth individuals who will help enhance the lives of our residents,” said Roger Simmons, vice president of Bethel Development, Inc. “Seniors across the nation and their families are challenged with finding comfortable and accommodating housing that meets both their unique needs and budget. It’s a great day when we can create high-quality, affordable and supportive housing for the seniors in the communities we serve.”

This is not the first property Rainbow for which has partnered with Bethel Development, Inc. Just last year, the organization was awarded service provider for another Bethel property in New Mexico, the Silver Cliff Apartments, located at 1414 Little Walnut Road in Silver City. The 80-unit, 79,274-square-foot family complex comprises 10 residential buildings. The apartments include one, two and three-bedroom units, in addition to a fitness room, pool, clubhouse and laundry room.

Rainbow is currently providing services to more than 85 affordable housing developments across the country, eight of which are located in New Mexico.
